When you love your car, itā€™s the manufacturer that tends to get a lot of praise. Itā€™s not uncommon to own a classic weekend driver and a daily that wear the same badge in pride. The badge Iā€™m talking about here is the one consisting of three overlapping elipses, and Al Palmer loves the make so much he even throws an annual party to celebrate it.

The Al Palmer Toyota Show is a celebration for all things Toyota, from classics to current.

Al runs the show at his business, Al Palmer Repairs located in Penrith, Western Sydney. This year was the 15th motor show. It all began because the guys in the Toyota club were saying there was no show for them in Sydney. With some assistance from the Toyota head office Al started the show and has been going strong since.

Trained by Toyota in the late 60ā€™s Alā€™s love for Toyotas began. He was promoted to be a boss but sitting behind a desk just wasnā€™t his thing. In 1974 he found a little factory where he could be back on the tools again.

I had heard of the event over the years from the Radrollaz crew. This year it was time to see it for myself.

Here are some tidy examples from the show

Jason Loweā€™s 4AGE powered KE20 won best engine bay.

Kaushalā€™s very tidy KE30 won best interior and peoples choice. Nice touch with the set of lawn bowls in the back.

Parked outside to lower the competition was Gregorā€™s 7k powered, EFI KE10 sitting on some SSR Star Sharks. I can appreciated good body work and a nice paint job but I do love it when cars show signs of wear and tear on cool wheels.

Best paint job went to this lovely TA22 Celica.

Al works on all makes and models but specializes in Toyota and Lexus. He also imports from Japan which he visits every year to keep up with the latest trends.

I have such a soft spot for old Toyotas so it was great to get to an Al Palmer show. Iā€™m looking forward to checking out another one soon!

Thanks for stopping by!
